We started a small patio garden. It has been a perfect fit with plant science. Hands on learning about planting seeds and helping them grow. We also bagged lavender seed pods to give out at a home and garden trade show. We learned that lavender doesn't always grow easily. We also learned that people like to get promotional freebies and are more apt to stop and chat a moment if you give them a nice promo. In business, this is considered getting a foot- or at least a toe- in the proverbial door. We did receive several calls for work from people who stopped to chat and take a seed packet.
